- Local journalism: dated reporting that identifies interviewees and distinguishes legend from history.
- Recorded oral history: first-person recollections with provenance and permission.
- Tourism and paranormal retellings: useful for tracking variations, but not treated as independent proof.
- Anonymous online posts: preserved only when culturally useful and clearly labeled.
